The Citadelle Laferrière

A short film for The Clinton Foundation.
About the film

This project was quite a journey with lots of moving parts and players. I’m grateful to have been a part of it for many reasons.

The goal: to create a short film for the Clinton Foundation that will enlighten and educate people around the world to the rich and beautiful history of Haiti and The Citadelle Laferrière. This includes the Haitian people as well. Surprisingly many Haitians are unaware that this historical landmark sits in the north of their country.

The story centers around The Citadelle Laferrière which is one of three UNESCO World Heritage Sites located in Haiti. The Citadelle is a larger than life fortress that was built shortly after The Haitian Revolution in 1804. It is seldom known that the Haitian Revolution is known as the only slave uprising that led to the founding of a state free from slavery and ruled by non-whites and former captives.

Its impact helped create a ripple effect that changed the world. I am still in awe of everything I learned while creating this piece. I hope to one day revisit this project.
